thread and sewing notions on a table

What people are Saying...

“Rachel is just the best teacher…she has such a great combination of knowing when to actively instruct and when to just observe and listen. I’m a professional educator and have been sewing for years, and I am so impressed with her.” Mary P, Chapel Hill
"Rachel started at the absolute beginning... how to thread a needle and tie a knot. ... her careful planning of what it means to start at the beginning was right on target. That care continued throughout the class. I would not hesitate to recommend her class to others."  Anonymous student, The ArtsCenter
I came to Rachel with serious wedding gown doubts. I had been to one seamstress who wasn't listening to my needs and I was starting to think the dress I so loved wasn't the right choice at all. I came only 6 weeks before my wedding and she was willing to work me in that short amount of time. Rachel immediately knew what needed to be altered when I tried my gown on for her. After several visits, my gown was back to being my dream dress. I would give her more than 5 stars if possible! Thank you Rachel for saving my wedding day! - Lindsey F, Durham
The most impressive thing that Rachel did for me was a dress. I had ordered a dress online, and when I received it it was NOT what I was expecting. (more like a frumpy nightgown than a dress). Rachel did a ton of work on it for me, bringing in the sides to give it shape, giving it a nice neckline, and completely re-doing the sleeves. She even made me a belt! When I tried it on, I almost wanted to cry. It fit so perfectly I was in shock! I showed my husband at home and he said "your worst dress just became your best dress." Amazement! I'd recommend Rachel to anyone. She's a true professional, and you'll immediately appreciate the time and talent and care she puts into her work. - Amanda M, Chapel Hill
