I am a professional sewist with over 15 years experience in alterations, mending, and creative sewing. My love for sewing began when I was just a kid, watching my mother sew and create costumes for theater performances she acted in. Along side my passion for art and fashion, my love for the environment and awareness of the environmental impact fashion and art have on the enviroment grew. This inspired me toward upcycling and creative reuse of materials in my art and sewing.

At 28 years old I realized sewing was my dream career and clothing alterations and mending were the clearest path in the direction of my dreams. I began an apprenticeship in 2004 with Red Thread Sewing in Flagstaff, AZ doing tent repairs and general alterations. From there I apprenticed with Anne's Alterations in Flagstaff, now Anne Thomas Coture. With Anne I began my journey into formal wear and bridal alterations. As an apprentice I learned sewing from many different angles from repairing tent zippers and patching paramedics kit bags to altering bridesmaids gowns and hemming jeans.

I started my first business in 2011 when Anne ventured to Colorado and left me in the care of her client base. As a business owner I have altered everything from Halloween costumes to bridal gowns to vintage apparel. Today my environmental ethics and creativity lead the way in my business, I aim to reuse as much of what is leftover from the process of clothing alterations as I am able. These leftovers fuel my art and make their way into many of my creations outside my alterations business.

I became a teaching artist at The Arts Center in Carrboro, NC in winter 2024 and offer classes and workshops in alterations, beginning sewing, and creating wearable fiber art. Soon after beginning teaching classes, students began inquiring about private lessons. I now offer private and group sewing lessons with a focus on alterations, mending, and upcycling skills, in addition to bespoke mending for your most prized garments.
